Lei Kui: Flowers & Greens

Gather around the table for an afternoon of flowers, greenery, and lei making.

In this hands-on lei intensive, lei artist Brynly will introduce the kui method while sharing techniques for manipulating leaves, flowers, and greenery into unique, modern creations.

Participants will learn how materials are selected, harvested, prepared, and arranged before constructing their own lei. Along the way, Brynly will share practical knowledge about caring for fresh lei, including storage, lifespan, and culturally appropriate disposal.

The workshop begins with the foundational kui technique, creating a beautiful entry point for anyone interested in learning the art of floral lei making. Future workshops can build upon this foundation with more elaborate double, triple, and multi-strand techniques.

Each participant will leave with their own handmade lei and learn skills they can carry forward to design and make beautiful lei of their own to wear, share, and give.
