We wanted a place to make art.
Waimea is a beautiful place.
The hills are green. It rains while the sun is out, sending us rainbows. Mauna Kea sits above us, sometimes clear and sometimes gone behind the clouds. There are old trees, horses, fertile land, and long views to the sea.
Living around that kind of beauty does something to you. It makes you want to respond. To paint it, shape it, photograph it, draw it, or make something entirely your own.
That impulse is everywhere. The only question was where to put it.
Where do you go in Waimea if you want to make art? Where do you learn something new? Where do you find other people who want to make things, too?
Spur brings artists, teachers, neighbors, and visitors together to learn and make things. Sometimes it's clay. Sometimes paint, paper, fiber, or something we haven't tried yet.
We come together to make something beautiful and feel it too.
Help shape what we create next.
