Watercolor Foundations: Color, Light & Play
Discover the beauty and spontaneity of watercolor in this welcoming introductory course with artist Rebecca Gottesman. Designed for beginners and anyone looking to build confidence with the medium, this class offers a supportive environment to explore color, brushwork, and creative expression.
Through a series of guided exercises and simple painting projects, students will learn foundational watercolor techniques including washes, layering, mark-making, color mixing, and composition. Along the way, Rebecca encourages experimentation, curiosity, and play, helping students develop both technical skills and their own creative voice.
Whether you're picking up a paintbrush for the first time or returning to watercolor after many years, this class provides a relaxed and encouraging space to learn, practice, and enjoy the process of painting.
No drawing experience is necessary. All levels are welcome.

Materials
Materials Fee: $25 (payable at the first class)
All professional watercolor materials are provided for use during class, including paints, brushes, palettes, watercolor paper, and studio equipment. Students will leave with their completed artwork. Those who wish to continue painting at home will receive recommendations for purchasing their own supplies.
Some items will be available for purchase from Spur, please check with hello@spurartcenter.org if there is something specific you are requesting.
Level
No prior experience is necessary. All levels are welcome, from curious beginners to practicing artists looking to experiment in a supportive studio environment.
